Sunday Crochet: August 3
Hello everyone and welcome to Sunday Crochet! It’s hard to believe that August is already upon us and Christmas is about 4 ½ months away. That tells me that I better get busy and start crocheting those gifts before it’s too late.
My trouble is crocheting a scarf or blanket in the middle of summer when it’s 85 degrees outside. However, we (Helen, Sheila, and I) came up with a great gift idea that is quick, easy, and very useful… a Potholder.
You can’t have to many of these hanging around the kitchen. We found a great pattern from Yarnspirations website that is simple

Sunday Crochet: Headbands, Ruffles Scarfs, and Market Bags… Oh my!
Hello my friends and welcome to Sunday Crochet!
Our little crochet club meets every Sunday afternoon, to share what we have finished, or learn a new stitch or start a new pattern.A couple weeks ago Helen found this Market Bag pattern on the AllFreeCrochet site. The Pattern is part of an E-book called ‘Scrap Yarn and One Skien Crochet Patterns’. The picture on the left is the Market-Bag from AllFreeCrochet.
The pattern was pretty simple and the bag works up really fast, so fast Shelia and Helen finished their bags within a week. I finally finished mine this past week… Go Figure! lol

Sunday Crochet: My Beginning
Welcome to Sunday Crochet!

| Towel Toppers made by Helen |
My Beginning: When I was a young teen, I remember my Grandmother giving Towel Toppers as gifts and how handy they are to have hanging in a kitchen. She was the only one in my family that crocheted and when she died her traditional Towel Toppers went with her.
Until 2002, a few months before Christmas, I decided to make my Grandmothers Towel Toppers and give them to my family as part of their Christmas gifts but I needed to learn how to crochet first.

Celebrating 2014 National Crochet Month III
Hello my friends… March is National Crochet Month! A month long celebration to honor the art of crochet and bring awareness to this versatile art form. Not sure, how you can spread the word about crochet? I have a few suggestion below about teaching, learning, charities and my favorite…
1. Teaching and/or Learning: The best gift you can give back is by sharing your knowledge and teach someone to crochet: Here are a few websites with teaching guides to get you started. Also a few site about learning to crochet.

Crochet with Helen
Hello my friends! As I told you in my November 30 blog post, I’ve been teaching the art of crochet to my neighbor Helen for the past few months. And let me tell you she has exceeded any expectations I had about her learning to crochet.
First off, she made some Towel Toppers, in less than a week and gave them to her family as Christmas gifts. What’s a Towel Topper? a dish towel with a crochet edging, which allows the towel to hang from a handle in the kitchen. They do come in handy, cause they are always hanging around… Oh that was a bad pun…lol
Helen also made the cute Minnie Mouse hats, which she donated to a charity auction. Adorable, don’t you think? Furthermore, she made all of the items in the picture below… A Chunky yarn Hat, Shawl with a button and a tassel. A market bag complete with strap and inside

Update, I’ve been…
Hi Friends! I am teaching crochet again! In early November, I learned that my neighbor wanted to learn crochet, so I spoke to her and 4 weeks later, I think she crochets better than I do! LOL
Seriously, I have made two things using yarn in the past 24 months. Everything I make now is with wire, but I can honestly say I have missed crocheting with all the different yarns they have out on the market… which I will see next week when we go shopping… for YARN!
We are having a great time and either my neighbor is a natural crocheter or I am a great teacher… you should see the things she has made in the past several weeks. She is already crocheting hats for Christmas presents…

CGOA, National Crochet Month, and JKrochetDesigns
Today I want to talk about two of my favorite things; The Crochet Guild of America and JKrochetDesigns. If you have been following the CGOA then you know March is National Crochet Month.
The purpose of having a month long celebration of crochet is for artists to spread the awareness of the art they love. If you go to the CGOA site you will see they even offer help by suggesting four main areas to promote crochet during March. Today I want to talk about making new crochet friends.
Therefore, I would like to introduce a new friend of mine, Jill from JKrochetDesigns. I believe her items show attention to detail and clever creativity. I just love the Cupcake Hats and of course the Froggie Hat. Ribbit! Ribbit!

Featured Artist OurHomeToYours from HandmadeArtists.com

Some of you may know I was a crochet instructor for a few years with Michaels.Over the past few months, I’ve been teaching my mother to crochet, which has been a life changing experience.
Although my mother and I have an excellent relationship, the role reversal of daughter teaching mother has been quite interesting. How so, you ask? My Mother tries to teach me, to teach her, how to crochet. ;o)
In fact, I know of a Mother/Daughter business relationship that creates unique handmade gifts called…

19 Crystal Braidlets: CGOA Design Competition 2011
These are the Braidlets I entered into the 2011 CGOA (Crochet Guild of America) Design Competition, which was held in September 2011. Although, I did not win... it was a great experience and my Braidlets were part of a National Competition. See you next year! Congratulations to the Winners!

Designer Cari Baker (Crochethooked); Braidlets are Beaded Wire Crochet Braided Bracelets. Using Swarovski Elements, I crochet each bead to artistic wire creating three separate strands. The strands are braided together to create the bracelet. The braiding serves several purposes:
• Strength and Durability
• Brilliant glow of color enhancing its beauty
• Comfort - the smooth underside is upon your wrist
The beads are cradled by crocheting them to wire. This enhances the Swarovski beads to reflect light, adding a dazzling sparkle which illuminates from the bracelet.

Thank you for visiting and have a super night! Cari
